Sunday morning we woke very, very early and drove up, up, up to the top of Tiger Hill in Darjeeling to see the sunrise over Kangchenjunga in the Himalayan range. It is the third highest mountain in the world. I guess that makes up for the 400 am wake up call. As much as I don't like early mornings, it was 100% worth it! The three previous days had been somewhat overcast. Sunday morning was clear with a beautiful full moon.
The girls wrapped up and waited inside the observation tower until the sun started to peek over the range.
Rachel and her friend blended right in with their Nepali hats and cookies for breakfast.
The sun comes up opposite from Kangchenjunga and lights up the area.
As the sun rises, the color of Kangchenjunga changes ever so slowly from blue.....
THAT is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. I would have a hard time waking up that early, too.
